After my volunteer experiences in developing countries overseas, it was clear to me just how fortunate and lucky I was as a child with the resources and opportunities for learning. Teaching in countries like this was quite a challenge and you learnt to make use of the fundamentals and necessities of learning rather than the extras.

Fundamentals:

  • Inclusion

  • Cared for, safe and protected at all times

  • Creating awareness of the world around them

  • Support

  • Creativity

  • The opportunity to ne included in sports, dance, music and extra curricular activities

What can we do without:

  • Discrimination

  • Exams and tests, such as NAPLAN

  • Boxes of resources for activities

  • Learning space itself, such as desks, etc.

  • Overlooking issues, concerns or questions because they are too difficult
