Comic Life... The New, Fun, Digital Writing Scaffold

During Genius Hour in class today, I introduced a resource to the students called Comic Life and wow were they interested... just with the title! Comic Life allows students to represent information from books, creating narratives, sequencing events, science and geography research, assessments, history timelines and past events, etc. in a way where they can design there learning and share to others in a fun and engaging matter.

It is extremely easy to use and after playing around with the settings, you can really make the comic your own. I decided to combine this resource in the classroom with Genius Hour, where the students can use comic strip to represent their research.

For this task, I decided to make an example comic of what I was researching during Genius Hour as an example for the students and that was... are all lakes blue? This links with the English, Geography and Science syllabus outcomes and connects them all in an interpretive, creative and imaginative direction for the students.

The educational benefits for comics are endless! My class that I am teaching at the moment definitely loved this resource and look forward to working on their comics over the next few weeks!
